Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) by Aesthetica Maria

Whether you’re affected by pattern baldness, scalp scarring or just patchy thinning hair, Aesthetica Maria offers an affordable, non-surgical, immediate and effective hair loss solution for everyone.

Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP as its commonly called is a safe and innovative solution that replicates the look of thicker, fuller hair. It’s a non-surgical, highly specialized procedure performed by a trained and certified practitioner. A proprietary formula of pigment is applied with micro-fine needles only into the outer layer of the epidermis on the scalp of the client to appear as if healthy hair strands or follicles exist in a normal growth pattern.

Scalp Micropigmentation is an effective camouflage to conceal scars, whether from a prior surgical procedure or accident, as well as burns or birthmarks.

We use only the safest and the highest standard medical grade pigment specifically for the scalp, along with the state of the art equipment.

Scalp Micropigmentation is ideal for both men and women with diffused thinning, pattern baldness, receding hairlines, alopecia and to camouflage scalp scars (FUE and FUT). The procedure provides the appearance of a fuller head of hair which is great for hiding patches where the scalp is visible through your thinning hair.

SMP is NOT good for:
  • People with fresh scars
  • With open wounds
  • Allergic to any kind of pigment molecule
  • Pregnant or nursing women; and for those
  • Who are taking Accutane or Lithium
SMP Contraindications:
  • Insulin dependent diabetics
  • Psoriasis on scalp
  • Eczema on the scalp
  • Keloid scarring
  • Mentally unstable
Scalp Micropigmentation FAQs

During a procedure, a specialized equipment with pigment designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation is used to meticulously apply microdots to your scalp to give the appearance of natural hair follicles.

Yes, with the expertise and training of the practitioner, a consultation with each client will be carried out to discuss and to understand what the client is hoping to achieve.

Another very important part of the SMP process is the design and creation of the hairline. Together with your practitioner, this will be discussed and decide on with the most natural-looking hairline that would perfectly suit you.

You and the practitioner will discuss and choose the design and the shade that is most natural looking and that blends with your own natural skin tone and your remaining hair.

We use high quality, medical-grade pigments, that are specifically designed for Scalp Micropigmentation. Please note that with time, sun exposure and excessive sweating, the pigment can eventually lighten, and a touch-up may be necessary to bring the appearance back to look its best.

Following your procedure, it is important to take care of the treated area. We recommend using a good quality sunblock and a hat. This will help to ensure your SMP stays looking as it was originally intended and help protect you from harmful UV rays.

In most cases, 2-3 sessions are required to achieve the desired look. The first two sessions are ‘building’ the density and the third session completes the ‘feathering’ and ‘definition’ aspect of the procedure. We recommend 10-14 days between sessions to allow for adequate healing.

We stand behind all our procedures with a 12-month satisfaction guarantee. If your procedure does not meet your expectations after the third session, then we will complete another session free of charge.

One of the advantages with Scalp Micropigmentation is you can increase the coverage should you experience further hair loss or find it just needs to be thicker in areas.

Sometimes people will get SMP to add density to thinning areas and then later decide to go for a complete all-over ‘buzz cut’ look. SMP is very versatile.

Some points on the scalp may be more sensitive than others. For example, you may feel the treatment more in the temple areas than the crown area.

We do have a medical grade anaesthetic cream on hand if required. The cream will numb the area being treated and most clients remark they feel little to no real discomfort during the entire procedure.

The cost will depend on the thinning/balding pattern, the size of the area to be treated and if any scars are present. To get a quote, call to book a free, no-obligation consultation or simply send us clear images of your full head, showing the most affected area and a brief description to and we will respond within 24 hours.
