What is Microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)?

We are proud to offer a safe and non-surgical approach to lift, tighten and improve the texture and tone of your skin using the medical grade microneedling device. This gentle automated device stimulates the skin cells to promote the production of collagen and elastin which is responsible for the “plumpness” of your skin. This treatment is great for a variety of skin types, safe and involves minimal downtime.

Microneedling is a skin-rejuvenating procedure in which microneedles create very tiny punctures on the top layer of skin with the goal of improving the overall texture and appearance of the skin.

The micro channels created from the microneedling device allow for greater product penetration. Specific therapeutic serums can be infused to treat and improve conditions such as pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, pimple and surgical scars, dark spots and other visible signs of aging.

The primary appeal of microneedling is its ability to stimulate growth of collagen and elastin which is the key to a new, healthy and youthful-looking skin. Some doctors would even go so far as to say that the procedure is the most powerful way to stop aging in its tracks and prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from forming. With its ability to trigger the generation of new skin cells, just a few sessions of microneedling will noticeably reduce and lighten pimple and surgical scars, fine lines, crow's feet, marionette lines and deep wrinkles on the forehead. "This is one of the good reasons why microneedling is great—because it's able to utilize the body's own natural healing mechanisms, so the results are very natural. Due to minimal downtime, it is often recommended to get the Microneedling procedure done every other month or two.

We, at Aesthetica Maria would love to give you a skin care consultation and personalized treatment to help you achieve beautiful, healthy and youthful-looking skin.

Benefits of Microneedling
  • Skin Hydration/Smoothens the skin

Skin hydration, increased in skin smoothness causing wrinkles and blemishes less visible, making skin younger looking.

  • Reverses sun damage and pigmentation

Collagen is arguably the most vital way to improve the look of skin, and this goes far beyond reducing wrinkles. By stimulating collagen growth with microneedling, you can also reverse sun damage and discoloration, which includes the hyperpigmentation that comes with melasma. A 2015 study showed microneedling to be a promising treatment for the blotchy, brownish facial pigmentation that comes with this chronic condition.

  • Microneedling has the ability to smooth and correct damaged skin.

On top of that, Microneedling also has the ability to tighten loose, aging skins, which makes it great for older men and women. (Remember: The older you are, the less collagen you're naturally producing.) A 2015 study in the International Journal of Dermatology confirms that microneedling is a new way to achieve "skin rejuvenation, tightening, and scar remodeling," and that it offers a "simple and effective treatment for photo aged skin" with minimal side effects and downtime. Older skin can also greatly benefit from the right fuel, so add these beauty foods to your diet to get that glow.

  • Shrinks pores

Microneedling doesn't actually enlarge pores as you might imagine piercing your skin hundreds of times would. Rather, one major benefit of microneedling is that it helps pores appear much smaller, thus makes your skin less oily.

Microneedling stimulates collagen in and around your pores which causes them to plump and appear shrunken, if not closed.

  • Topical facial products penetrate more efficiently on your skin

Did you know that only 4 to 8 percent of that expensive serum you're using on your face actually penetrates your skin? One of microneedling's additional appeals is that it improves product absorption tremendously. Studies confirm that the treatment can actually help topical medications penetrate skin more efficiently, allowing you to reap the full benefits of any product. This makes total sense considering the fact that microneedling creates thousands of invisible holes in your skin that are ready to absorb products in a way clogged pores can't. "The tiny punctures actually act like little channels, allowing topical products to penetrate better and work faster and more effectively.

  • Microneedling can be done all over your body

Another awesome benefit of microneedling is that this treatment is not just for the face. It can be done on any area of skin that needs to be repaired—particularly areas that display stretch marks or acne or surgical scars, like the stomach, legs, chest, back, and buttocks. As few as four to six sessions could make a difference in these problem areas.

  • It's beneficial for both those with acne and those looking to treat wrinkles.

Whether your skin has texture to it due to large pores, acne scars, or fine lines, this treatment is ideal. The combination of product penetration and the wound healing process gets rid of bacteria and forces the skin to start up the regeneration process for a fresh start.

  • You'll instantly notice how glowy your skin looks.

You might experience a bit of redness immediately following the treatment, but once it subsides, you'll notice a dewy, glowy complexion and a new plumpness to your skin.

  • Hair growth stimulation and restoration

Microneedling is aimed at stimulating microcirculation, thus it has also been successfully used for hair growth restoration and stimulation in cases of thinning, spot balding and non-androgenic alopecia cases.
